The annual trendstudy with the newest figures and facts about the German on-line tourism market. In our big, annual, field research
357 executives resp. decision-makers of the national and international tourism industry gave answers about their commitment in online tourism. As usual the survey focused on figures and facts
regarding the results of the running on-line business, the experiences, the present development as well as the appraisal of the tourist
future.
The on-line tourism kept on booming in 2006 as well. Last year the German tourism economy gained
12.86 bn. euros of turnover only by internet. The whole branch achieved 40.57 bn. euros in the same period and shone once more with a growth, which was based almost without exception on the internet tourism. Compared with 2005 the gained on-line turnovers grew
about 36% - that means almost as much as in the year before. With this the tourism economy presented itself also in 2006 as an extremely dynamic branch of industry and as a big earner on the web. In the business-to-consumer market (B2C) the tourism amounts
more or less one quarter of the whole German ecommerce. Also in 2006 the internet gave the essential impulse to the tourism economy. The good development once more was driven by the web-sales of flights. Furthermore, tour operators had a tremendous on-line growth in sales - with a
growth of almost 54% compared to 2005.

The purpose of the annual market research is to document the present state of the "Ecommerce in on-line tourism in Germany" and to compare the results with the years
before.
